Templates in Echobox Studio

A template controls how your posts look and what they say. It holds your logo, typeface and colours, decides where the headline and image are taken from, and sets where the article link is placed. Echobox Studio is where you build and edit them.

What does a template control?

A single template covers everything Echobox needs to build a post:

• Branding. Your logo, typeface, text colour and background colour.
• Content. Where the message, headline, description and image are taken from.
• Layout. The design itself, including the aspect ratio and which elements appear.
• Link placement. Whether the article link goes in the message, the first comment, or both.

Echobox styles and your own templates

Studio gives you two kinds of template.

Echobox styles are the designs we provide, and every account has them. They are ready to use as they are, and you cannot edit them directly. You will see them listed as Bold, Classic, Editorial, Highlighted and Modern.

Your own templates are yours to change. You create one by duplicating an Echobox style and editing it, so you always start from a working design rather than a blank page. Once a template is yours, you can rename it, restyle it, and use it on as many Pages as you like.

Where do I find them?

Open Studio from the main navigation. Your own templates and the Echobox styles are listed together, with a preview of each one.

To see which template a particular Page is using, go to Settings, choose the Page, then open Templates. See Choosing which template a Page uses for how that works.

Do I need a different template for every post type?

Yes. A link post, an image post, a carousel and a story all need different designs, so each is a separate template.

Settings groups them for you under Post, Story and Reel, and you choose one template for each. You do not have to fill in every slot. Anything you leave un-set uses an Echobox style by default, so a Page works from the moment it is set up.

Can I use a different template for a single post?

Yes. In the Compose Box you can apply a different style to one share without changing the Page's usual template. Your branding carries across when you do, which is covered in Maintain branding.

Getting started

If you are setting up a Page for the first time, the quickest route is:

1. Open Settings, choose the Page, and open Templates.
2. Look at the Echobox style already selected for each post type.
3. Where one is close to what you want, open it in Studio and duplicate it.
4. Edit the copy, save it, then select it back in Settings.
