URL Parameters

URL parameters help you track traffic from posts made through Echobox. You can configure parameters for each social page and choose whether they are added to the query string or URL fragment.

Configure URL parameters for a page

Open Settings, select Pages, and open the page you want to configure.

Select URL Parameters.

For most pages, the settings are divided into two tabs:

  • Link applies parameters to link posts.
  • Image applies parameters to links used with image posts.

For Instagram pages, the image setting is labelled Link stickers.

Each parameter has three fields:

  • Type: choose Query or Fragment.
  • Name: enter the parameter name.
  • Value: enter the value that Echobox should add.

Select Add Parameter to add another row. Use the remove button beside a row to delete a custom parameter, then save the page settings.

Query and fragment parameters

Query parameters appear after ? in a URL. Multiple query parameters are separated by &.

Fragment parameters appear after #.

For example:

https://example.com/article?utm_medium=Social#Echobox=123

Edit the URL for one post

Open the post in the Compose Box and select its URL. Edit the URL, then click outside the field to apply the change.

Echobox applies the page’s URL parameter settings when it prepares the post. Image-post links in the message or first comment use the settings from the Image tab.

The Echobox parameter

Echobox adds an Echobox timestamp parameter to shared links. It is normally added as a fragment. If the URL already uses a fragment, Echobox places the parameter in the query string instead.

This parameter allows Echobox to distinguish between shares of the same article.
