Facebook's Content Monetization Program
Facebook's Content Monetization Program
Facebook has merged in-stream ads, ads on reels, and performance bonus programs into one program that pays out at a post level based on certain metrics.
Start monetizing
This program is currently invite-only, with Meta distributing invitations periodically to eligible pages.
To be eligible, your page will have to generate a certain level of video views per month.
Meta may invite you to participate via the Monetization tools sections of these channels of the Facebook app, Meta Business Suite, and/or the professional dashboard.
You can express your interest in this programme via the in-app form. To locate the form:
- Navigate to the professional dashboard.
- Find the Monetization tab.
- Click 'Content Monetization' to access the form.
Best practice
Content eligible for monetization includes public videos, reels, photos, stories, and text posts.
Although Facebook does not specify precisely what leads to a given payout, rewards are higher for content that sparks genuine engagement on the platform.
What to avoid
Facebook has strict policies about content that is ineligible or less valuable for monetization. Key things for publishers to avoid are:
- Static or looping video
- Controversial, explicit, or distressing content
- Engagement bait that urges users to click a link or respond to a post through likes, comments, or shares
Optimizing revenue with Echobox
If you're part of the program, Echobox's content mix and scoring algorithms can be set to optimize for content monetisation earnings.
Here's how to activate the revenue targeting:
Note that optimizing our algorithms for revenue means they are not optimized for traffic.
Activating the toggle affects:
- our content scoring algorithms
- the mix of Facebook share types between links and images
- share mix recommendations and nudges on your Echobox page
